This dish was served at the recent Sea Food Festival at Gardner's Basin in Atlantic City. It was prepared and featured on a KWY-TV food show just prior to the Festival.

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 pound butter
  2. 1 pound FRESH Jumbo Lump Crabmeat
  3. 1/2 cup Diced Onion
  4. 1/2 cup diced green pepper
  5. 1/2 cup diced celery
  6. 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  7. 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  8. 1 teaspoon salt
  9. 1 teaspoon thyme
  10. 2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  11. 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  12. 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  13. 2 cups shredded cheddar
  14. 16 eggs
  15. 8 1/2 cups milk
  16. 30 slices white bread

Preparation

Tab Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in saute pan. Add celery, onions, peppers, seasonings and spices. Cook for about 4 minutes, set aside. Trim crust from bread slices & line bottom of full hotel pan(20 3/4 x 12 1/2) cover with a layer of crabmeat, followed by a layer of vegetable mixture & a layer of cheese. Top with remaining bread slices. Whisk eggs & combine with milk, pour over bread. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour or until top is slightly brown.

Serves ten.
